Under COVID-19 Lockdown
PANDEMIC RESOURCE PAPER
Probably one of the most frustrating aspects of the COVID-19 crisis is the sense of impotence and the feeling the we are “not doing anything”. Obviously, this is not the reality and we should follow the official recommendations and stay home and practice social distancing. We hope that our apparent lack of action slows down the spread of the virus and places us in a better position to manage the situation in the coming weeks and months.
As Facility Managers, we are accustomed to being at the field tending to the proper operation of our buildings in times of crisis. That was the story after hurricanes Irma and María struct the island and more recently during the earthquake sequence that started this past January. For the Abacus team, the well being of the building occupants is of utmost importance. Their protection constitutes our contribution to our fellow citizens and our nation. At this time we believe the greatest tool at our disposal is information, therefore; we will be using our sites to provide links to official, reliable sources and share our thoughts on engineering / architectural and administrative measures that may help in slowing down the spread of the disease.
This is a situation that is evolving rapidly; therefore, we must be capable and vigilant to modify our actions accordingly. Following is a list with links to reputable sites with information on COVID-19. We will be adding more as required, check often.
