Should we be re-opening?

As we have been commenting during the past weeks, Puerto Rico's reopening strategy IS NOT dependent on the empirical data of the virus behavior.

The reported data posted on John's Hopkins University's site and on Instituto de Estadísticas de Puerto Rico continues to show an increasing trend in the virus propagation. Logically one must conclude that the increased movement and social interaction has caused this increase. The reported COVID-19 testing numbers have not shown an increase and in fact, some of the major laboratories conducting testing are reporting shortages of test kits. In the period between May 31 and June 7 the number of positive cases from molecular tests is 60. It is worth noting that the CDC and WHO favor the molecular vs. the serological tests. Clearly, the molecular test rate is very poor.

We understand the need to jump start the economy but it is important that the citizens understand the importance of being extra careful while venturing out.

We share the following information from John's Hopkins University to help you reach your conclusions. In our opinion, Puerto Rico is clearly under-performing in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. BE SAFE!
